Words: Keywords Lists

The keywords function in the Words tool computes a comparison of frequencies between two corpora or wordlists using a selected statistical measure.

How to generate a Keywords List:

1) Open the words tool with your selected corpus.

2) Click the key icon at the top right corner of the table 

3) Select the desired reference corpus from the drop down menu in the top left corner. The menu to the right of this also allows subcorpora to be used.

4) The results table can be sorted based on the user’s preferred keyword statistic by left clicking on any column heading. The default sorting statistic is ‘Simple Maths’.

5) The relative frequency of keywords in the focus corpus is shown in column 2, followed by its frequency in the reference corpus in column 3. The final four columns display calculations of each statistic.
